Courses

The day is broken into two sessions (morning and afternoon), and each session will be just over one hour long, allowing lunch and coffee breaks. Each participant will receive a manual of the course, a certificate of completion, and an opportunity to experience some “hands-on” training. This course will give attendees greater ability and confidence in:

  • Apprehending and handling stray dogs
  • Remaining safe at all times
  • Apprehension without undue reliance on extreme measures
  • Dealing with the public in high stress situations
  • Handling an injured dog assessment and transporting
  • Responding/defending a full-fledged dog attack

This 4 day course will provide intense “hands-on” training, dealing with difficult dogs. This course will be held at our facility in Red Deer with a maximum 14 participants, and will give attendees greater ability and confidence in:

  • Advanced self defense against single or multiple dog attacks
  • How and when to use barriers
  • Calming signals, Reading the dog and behavioral management
  • Loading and handling injured animals
  • Identifying communicable disease and protocol
  • How to testify in serious dog bite situations
  • Dog bite protocol
  • Defense tools and related options
  • Environmental safety management

This course is approximately 90 min long. Each participant will receive a course outline for taking notes. A certificate of completion and an opportunity at the end to ask questions.

This course is designed to give attendees increased awareness of their surroundings. Appropriate techniques to use when approached by dogs, and effective responses when threatened by dogs. This course is crucial for any worker who has to venture on to private property in the course of their work.

This course is specifically focused for enforcement personnel or public safety personnel who either deal with dogs at residences or in the event of road side arrest situations. It is geared to assist officers to understand and even predict problematic behavior before it starts and to have prearranged tactics on what to do and what not to do. It is a 90 min course with video and role playing and each participant will receive a certificate of completion as well as be asked to fill out a course critique.

This course is designed to help avoid serious injury situations and when they cannot be avoided, to equip personnel with effective defense techniques to minimize negative outcomes.
